There are two types of books one is popular and the second one is successful. Popular books are like waves they come like a storm and remain only for a few moments in the reader's mind. But successful book remains in your mind for a long time. They haunt you. I like to read such books. And just I finished a heartbreaking story. In the company of a stranger novel written by @awaiskhanauthor. I got to know about the author from Spotify's podcast. I loved the way he explained writing and publishing. So the next day I picked his novel.
If your book doesn't have any hooks it's fine but if it doesn't have a show don't tell style then you will end up closing the book on the third page. The way @awaiskhanauthor wrote the novel I fell in love with it. you know I watched a movie on my mind screen. After A.J . Finn's The Woman in The Window, I watched a book in my mind.
The only word for his
writing style is excellent. Secondly, I am not going to talk about the story. Book talks about suicide bombing, terrorism, the hypocrisy of the elite class, the dirty world of show biz, and an unsettling tragic love story. I was so involved with Mona's character. I felt sorry for her. The author explored an elite class suffocated woman's emotion, sorrow, and desire so deeply. One will doubt the novel is written by a man. Book keeps you at the edge of your seat until the last page. I brushed off the sleep from my eyelids and read the climax. There are some caricatures and a loose plot structure. I felt Ali's character should have developed more.
I appreciate the guts of an author who dared to write about the ill things happening in Pakistan. It needs a lion's heart. When I reached the climax I predicted the novel would wrap up like nonsense Bollywood movies but no it ended with an unexpected twist. The language of the book is simple and lucid. Book changed my perspective to look at the Pakistani people. All of them are not terrorists. They are also trapped in terrorism. There is no end to it.
